The Washington County Community Action Council (WCCAC), the federally mandated and state-designated anti-poverty agency serving Washington County, proudly celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2025. Since its founding in 1965, WCCAC has been on the frontlines of the war on poverty, providing essential services that empower individuals and strengthen families.
For six decades, WCCAC has worked tirelessly to break the cycle of poverty and offer pathways to self-sufficiency. From emergency shelter and energy assistance to workforce development, housing stabilization, and food security, the agency has been a trusted partner for thousands of Washington County residents. In 2024 alone, WCCAC served more than 15,000 individuals, including seniors, children, veterans, and families facing economic hardship.
“This milestone is not just a celebration of longevity, but of impact,” said Tim Fisher, CEO of WCCAC. “Every program, every partnership, and every person helped is a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together to lift one another up. As we look ahead, we are more committed than ever to revitalizing low-income communities and ensuring that every resident has access to opportunity, dignity, and hope.”
